Weekly Wrap-Up: It’s beginning to look a lot like…

Another week has gotten away from us!  I can hardly believe that July is more than half over- I know, each week it’s mentioned just how fast this week, month, YEAR is flying by! It’s hard not to take notice and reply as such.

It’s been a bit quiet this past week. Again, with summer in full swing it’s hard to drag ourselves away from all the fun adventures we’re having! I do hope, however, despite all those exciting adventures you’ll join us for a BIG celebration that’s only a few days away!

I know I’m excited! It’s like… CHRISTMAS! … in July. HA! Okay, I admit, I haven’t had coffee yet this morning. Not to worry, I hear it peculating as I type. ;)

Have you been reading along with us this month? The GingerScraps Book Club has been discussing this month’s book in a new way. Check out the discussion thread and join in! Next month’s book has been chosen in our pick-our-read poll: What Alice Forgot by Liane Moriarty. I’ve been wanting to get my hands on this read for a while, and am glad now I’ve got more reason to read it!

Don’t forget to grab our HUGE grab-bag this month! Roseytoes created such a generous grab-bag, that you get FOR FREE when you spend $10 in the store!

Make sure, if you haven’t already, check out the new Rewards System, they’ve changed just a tiny bit.

With that I’ll leave you to your own scrapping!  I hope you’ve had a happy weekend and have a great Sunday!

Off to the beach with me! Have a super scrappy Sunday!

Weekly Wrap-Up: oh hey there July! How did you get here so soon?

Hellooooo!

I know, a little too much for a Sunday morning, eh? Well, I’m riding on a fictional high- been in a reading frenzy lately! It all started with our Book Club read for July, Unwanted by Neal Shusterman.

I’d love just to pour out all my thoughts on this book, and for a young adult book, WHEW! it’s RIPE with topics to discuss until our brains melt, however I’ll save all the **spoilers** for the discussion thread. ;)  After I finished that book I picked up another, devoured it and am onto my third book in four days.

But, wow, enough about me.

Recap! This week has been busy busy busy starting with last Sunday up until this point. First week of July, DONE! It’s a little bit scary how fast it’s flying by. We’ve all drooled over the new buffet, Away We Go! (oh admit it), been given a whole boat load of new challenges, PLUS new releases from our fantastic designers on top of it all AND our July Guest Designer: Wendy of WendyBird Designs!

I asked Wendy to tell us a smidge bit more about herself, since she’s so awesome an all.

How long have you been working with Hybrid(where did you start/how)?
I have always loved art and being crafty and I tried paper scrapping when my son was born, but it didn’t “stick” lol… I discovered digi scrapping in 2008 and fell in love! It didn’t take long for me to miss the hands on crafting, so when I started doing hybrid crafts in 2009, it was a match made in heaven!

Best part about designing hybrid templates?
I love seeing digital kits printed and brought to life into 3D projects! I also love seeing how other crafters find new ways to use my templates!

Your favorite weeknight meal?
I love to try new recipes! I have a few dog eared cookbooks, but mostly I find recipes online – especially pinterest these days! Some of my favorites are shredded beef tacos and BBQ pulled pork sandwiches that cooked in the crock pot while we were at work – because after working 10 hours, the last thing I want to do is stand in front of the stove.

Hardcover or e-book?
e-book! I have a Nook Color and love it! I still have a collection of my favorite “real” books, but anything I buy now is electronic! I also do a lot of driving and listen to audiobooks to pass the time. I usually have 3 books going at a time – one on my Nook, an audiobook for me, and one that I’m listening to with my son. I’m so glad he inherited my love of reading!

Coffee or tea?
Do I have to choose just one? I like coffee, but only with a lot of flavored creamer (my boyfriend teases me that it’s just coffee flavored milk). In the winter I drink hot tea and iced tea all year long!

If there is anyone who could get me to really try a full on hybrid project, it’s Wendy. Check out her hosted hybrid challenge this month. Banner(s). Need I say more?!

So what do I have next for you? How about a whole bunch of sales!?

First up JenC Designs is wrapping up her Celebration Sale! You can save 40% on everything!

Next, today is the LAST day of Connie Prince’s Red, White &BOOM! sale!

Roseytoes Designs is having a store wide sale, everything is 50% OFF!

Last, but certainly not least, we say farewell to PsychoZoe Designs. She’s so sweet, I hate to see her leave us! She’s going out with a bang though! (I’ve already snagged some goodies! Fun with Tulle templates, get them. Right now.)

We will miss you Susie but hope to see you around the forum(s)!

Okay, new buffet, challenges and guest designer? Check. Sales? Check. Try to entice you into joining in on the Book Club fun? Check, check.

Aside from continuing to welcome all the new friendly faces I keep seeing pop up in the forum, that’s all I’ve got for you today! I hope everyone has had a terrific weekend, that we’re all hiding out in our caves from the heat and scrapping to our hearts content!

So… stay scrap happy friends and keep on scrappin’ on.

Sneak Peeks 7.5 v.2: Life captured, sweet treats, say cheese and more!

Good morning (again) friends!

I’m popping in quick to throw at you some WONDERFUL sneak peeks of tomorrow’s new releases. Are you ready? Are you sure? GOOD! Let’s do this! :)

First up is a new one from Sugar Kissed Designs- and sure I’m going to be a super tease and say it’s definitely a new favorite of mine! Love the color pallet, the journal cards, love the everything!

Another new one to hit the store is from Luv Ewe Designs!  By the looks of it, I see it’s a must for any photog-phile! ;)

I see STARS! LOVE stars almost more than banners! I am also totally digging those button and flair elements of the camera and the word “smile”. The papers? CHECK! Totally cute. The more I talk about it the more I want it right now!

A bright, super sweet preview of what’s to come from Z Pink Boudoir Designs,

Another preview of this yummy looking kit with a new template by Pretty in Green!

Here is a pretty pretty preview of something  coming from Keep in Touch Designs,

How about some more new templates by Pretty in Green?

(both templates are using older kits by Pixels by Jen and Keep in Touch Designs)

I am seriously all about the blocking in those templates. Paper, pictures, journaling, so many options! So many ideas coming to mind!

Twin Mom Scraps has a bright fun kit on the way!

There is just something about this layout that makes me want to see the WHOLE kit. The papers, the ribbons, the frame and flowers are ALL just darling!

Since this is a speedy delivery to whet your appetites, I have but one more preview for you and it is quite literally delicious looking!

Connie Prince has served us up with what could possibly be my favorite carbohydrate on the planet.

Pasta. If I had a last meal, I’m fairly certain that would be it.

That’s all I’ve got for you this morning, get ready because tomorrow these will be in the store and I know what I do first thing Fridays!

Sneak Peeks!

Good Morning!

Before I start, let’s take a small moment and think of, say a little prayer for, those people and families in Colorado right now who are fighting the wild fires- the actual emergency crews and the people being displaced, losing their homes, businesses and so on. They are all certainly in my thoughts.

I’ll admit, it’s been a wee bit crazy for me this morning including disassembling the vacuum because it sucked up part of my phone case, yes I’m serious. So what do I have for you today? A few little sneak peeks that’ll have to hold you over until Sunday when you get to see the AMAZING new July Buffet our designers have whipped up for you. For real, I’m ecstatic!

So without further rambling from me let’s see what I’ve got!

Here is a new one from Pixels by Jen. I am super serious about that number paper! And that lined paper! PAPER PAPER PAPER! Maybe that’ll be my new addiction?

Here’s one from Twin Mom Scraps. I am such a sucker for stars and though it’s tucked in behind those cute flowers, I am lovin’ that little firework rocket! Looks to me like this new kit will be perfect for our impending American holiday!

I am oogling all these pretty papers from Unforgettable Moment’s new release! I love the neutral, earthy tones of Unforgettable Moments’ kits and this is no exception. Love the color pallet.

Check out this super cute kit by Connie Prince! I love that little barn! And the chicken! And the ribbon!

Those are some seriously awesome peeks at what’s to come I think. Not as many as we might be used to but I PROMISE you there is more coming. You just wait and see!

I don’t want to leave you just yet! I’ve got a couple other things I want to share with you. TONIGHT is our Book Club Chat and I hear there is a participation prize! Even if you haven’t read our June Read (The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks), you can still join us for a “spoilers chat” as one lovely forum member put it (love it!).

Chat is hosted by our lovely JoyLynn of Blue Heart Scraps. All information listed right ^ ^ up there. ;)  Hope to see you there!  If you just can’t wait for the chat tonight, then do jump into the June book discussion thread in the forum too!

I also hope to see you Friday night at the Night Owls Scrap & Chat!

Every Friday night Terra of Sugar Kissed Designs rustles up some kind of delicious goodie for us and this week she does not disappoint!  She’s got a super cute mini for everyone who joins the chat! Here is a bonus peek at that mini (which you can find in full in the Night Owls forum thread):

Okay okay, NOW I think I’m done. ;) It’s going to be a hot one today here at home- and I’ve been hearing from quite a few members of our community that it’s been a scorcher for them as well throughout the week. In my opinion, perfect day to stay in the AC in scrap scrap scrap! :) Which is exactly what I intend to do!

Weekly Wrap-Up: Banner Love

Good morning scrappy friends!

Can you believe June is almost over? One more week! I really can’t. Where is the time going? I swear, it’s just getting up and walking away, unannounced and unnoticed. Soon we’ll all be celebrating the Fourth (those of us in the United States, that is ;) )!  Now since I don’t have any clever transitions, I’ll just come out and say it, I LOVE BANNERS! I’ve been oohing and ahhing for a while now at all the delicious banners out there, so really, the next step in my addiction is to go hybrid, right?

So I’ve got to share with you this gem I found in our store,

I’ll be honest, I’ve been eyeing it up for a while, now is as good a time as ever to jump on the hybrid bandwagon- with July 4th a little over a week away! It looks too cute and EASY to pass up!  There are some great kits in the store you could use to create your banner! I want to share with you a new one by Connie Prince and an older (but still absolutely beautiful!) kit by Kathy Winters Designs!

I have yet to grab Connie’s but I am TOTALLY loving that banner! ;) (see, addicted) I have used Kathy’s and it’s VERY awesome. I love all the stars and buttons and word art and… well, go grab it now and see for yourself! :D

To stray a bit from scrap-talk, there is a fascinating and insightful thread hoppin’ in the forum right now. Sara (Tree City) asked, “What are the Top 5 Most Important Decisions You’ve Made in Your Life?”  Responses are so different from each person, sad, happy, ongoing challenges. It really makes you sit back and think, what ARE  the 5 most important decision you’ve made in your life? I’ve yet to answer but that’s because it really does make you think!  So, tell me, what are YOUR five?

Have you finished reading our June read, The Lucky One for book club? You’ve got a few days left before the book chat! You can find the information on The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks in this thread. The forum discussion can be found here in this thread and the chat is on June 28th.

We hope to see you there!

Remember to get your June challenges in, you’ve got one week left! I know I’ve got to finish up a few, which is what I plan to do today! Make sure to check out this past Friday’s new releases in the Fresh Baked section, there are some great new kits in the store! A few in particular I am oogling, that’s for sure!

Have a scrap happy Sunday my friends!

Inside the Designer Studio: Ask the Designers

Hello friends! I’m here this morning to bring you part two of Inside the Designer Studio for this month. Earlier in the month we met the designers, May of Siamese Studios, Jennifer of Luv Ewe Designs and Amy of Unforgettable Moments.  I put to you, our fabulous community, to ask the designers anything you wanted to know and this is what you’ve come up with:

First, as I sip my breakfast tea, coffee or tea?

MayBoth! Normally one coffee to start the day, then hot or iced tea during the day, but sometimes I love to have iced coffee as well.

JenniferNeither…Dr. Pepper!

Amy: I really do like both, but I drink coffee every morning. I enjoy fruity/floral herbal teas and black tea with cream. I like going to coffee shops with friends also (hence my Coffee Shop With Friends kit LOL).

Jennifer and Amy, how long have you been with us at GingerScraps?

Jennifer: October of last year (2011)

Amy: I started as a designer at GS 1 year and 9 months ago. However I first started hanging around GS when I registered for Scraping Survivor2 in 2010. I played survivor and learned what a fun, friendly place GS is! I did get 4th place in the contest that year which I was excited about- I couldn’t beat that talented Rachel (Pretty In Green) LOL.

MayWhere are you originally from and how did you find yourself in Thailand?

I am originally from Thailand as I was born here, but our family moved to Singapore, and Malta for several years, then moved back to Thailand since 30 something years ago (no, no, don’t ask how old I am, LOL).

Wouldn’t dream of it! ;)

Jennifer, since you mentioned never wanting to be called Jenny, now we’ve got to ask why. ;)

LOL! It just sounds kiddish to me. A very few call me that like my sister and brother and I don’t even know where it came from but they call me that.

Amy, what do you love most about OR?

Oregon is a really fantastic place. I can drive two hours west and be at the ocean, Visiting the desert of Eastern Oregon is a day trip also! Mt. Hood is just a short drive away, and not to mention Portland which is a decent sized big city. My favorite is the big evergreen trees. I also love visiting the river beaches. There are so many recreational opportunities here. There is also no state tax, and a lot of out of state people love buying things here because of that. We do have higher property taxes for home owners to make up for that though. Oregon is beautiful, but it does rain a lot which doesn’t bother me at all though.

That sounds like a dream!

With summer in full swing, what are your favorite warm weather activities?

May: Swimming!!! Our warm weather is normally VERY HOT, so swimming helps a lot.

Jennifer:  Swimming, but prefer swimming indoors than outdoors.

Amy: I really love taking camping trips with my family. We aren’t really “roughing” it kind of campers, but we love being outside, roasting things on the campfire, and playing in nature.

Fun!

Now let’s talk designing!  What do you enjoy most about designing scrap kits?

May: I love it most when the final result is just like what I’ve vision about the kit. Then I love when seeing layouts made from my kits. It’s amazing to see all different layouts from just one kit.

Jennifer: Just being creative. I can let off steam while creating.

Amy: OH! I love so many things about designing. I love designing scrap kits AND templates. Love it! I really love the creative process and watching my ideas go from idea to product. I really love seeing my designs on a scrappers layout!

What is one element you feel you must always include into a kit?

MayFoliage! I love to see some green in my kit.

Jennifer: Buttons and string.

Amy:  I would say fasteners. I know that is kind of generic huh? I’m having a hard time narrowing my answer down to just one element LOL.

What is your most favorite kit you’ve designed and your best selling?

May: My most favorite kit is usually the latest kit(s) that I’ve designed. For now it would be Cotton Candy and Lemon Drops. My bestselling would have to be Bumble Rumble.

JenniferI think it was Miracles Happen. I just really like the color palette and felt it all fell together! My best selling would be In A Boys World.

AmyI really like the kit I made for the June FWP grab bag. I had my hubby in mind when I made that one. :)  Honey Love is my best selling kit, and Something Sweet is my best selling template pack.

From a personal opinion of someone who owns this kit, it’s absolutely awesome! I think it’s my favorite of yours! It’s FREE with a $10 purchase in the GingerScraps store (for the month of June, so you’ve got 7 days left!)!

Those are some GREAT kits!

Just for fun let’s end with what your favorite foods are!

MayAll sorts of pasta, but my favorite would be Cabonara. I make yummy Cabonara too! ;)

JenniferOh my too many to name! I love mexican, anything cheesy (the cheesier the better), oh and home made potato soup. I can make myself sick from eating too much of that LOL.

AmyMy favorite “meal” is probably taco salad. We have this a lot in our home. We try to think of new and fun ways to make it lol. My kids love it because we let them crunch up tortilla chips on the top. My favorite bad-for-you food is ice cream.

Now I’m hungry, and I JUST ate breakfast (especially since I, too, am a giant pasta fan!).

A HUGE thank you to the designers for taking time out of their family and designing time to answer these questions! There were so many more I wish I could keep sharing but we don’t want to be here all day, we’ve got scrappin’ to do. ;)  I always have fun finding out these little tidbits about people.

Until next month!

Have a scrap happy weekend!

This Week’s Sneak Peeks!

Good morning friends!

Beth is out this week so you’ll have to deal with me delivering you your sneak peeks. ;) Though, I’m sure you don’t mind who does so long as you get to see all of these beautiful layouts created with some pretty stellar looking kits coming out tomorrow! :)

First up are a few from Joyful Heart Designs:

I am totally diggin’ those tattered, torn and grungy lookin’ papers.

Next up we have some new goodness from Sugar Kissed Designs:

I love all things purple, so this one is a definite win for me. I love that plaid paper. I mean LOVE it.

This one is from Connie Prince:

Seriously, the color pallets coming out this week are driving me insane! And by insane I mean I want them all! I love the greys and blues of this kit, plus stars, oh how I love love love stars.

There is this cute one from Keep in Touch Designs,

and this totally bright, fun one from Find Your Bliss Designs:

Last, but certainly not least is a new one from Pretty in Green:

A big huge giant thank you to the fantastic CT ladies for allowing us to share these beautiful layouts with you! As ever, I will be waiting on the edge of my broken desk chair (don’t ask), coffee in hand for Friday morning.

The wealth of talent we have here at GingerScraps never ceases to amaze me. Nor does it help any with my kit hoarding problem. ;) Seriously, I can’t wait to see what Friday has in store for us. Literally! HA!

Alright alright, enough of my silliness. Have a super awesome scrap happy Thursday my digi-friends!

Weekly Wrap-up: Happy Father’s Day!

Happy Sunday Morning to YOU!

And a very happy Father’s Day to all the daddy’s out there! Young, old and gone from us but never forgotten! A friend of mine posted this on Facebook this morning, “Blood relations don’t make you a Dad… love does.” So let’s not forget all the step fathers, foster dads and adoptive daddies out there too!

I can’t wait to see the new Father/Dad inspired layouts that are sure to pop up in the gallery in the next couple days (I know I’ve got one in the works myself!)! For today though, I hope you’re all spending time with family!  With that said, I’ve got a date with my little guy today (Daddy is out of the country on business, so we’re going out to play!)  which means we’re going to have a short but sweet weekly wrap-up!

So, let’s get to the good stuff yeah? How about a sale?!  Amy Peck- Unforgettable Moments is have a store-wide sale in honor of her son’s third birthday! I’d say birthday’s are an excellent time to celebrate with a sale!  Unforgettable Moments ENTIRE store is 30% off from now until June 22nd!

How about ANOTHER sale!? Don’t thank ME (but you can, if you want), thank Sophie of Keep In Touch Designs! She’s put her WHOLE store on sale for 50% OFF!  Her reason? “Because of Father’s day, because the sun is back in my garden, because I’m happy”  That’s good enough for me!

Have you been reading this month’s book club book? I know I’m totally behind and if you are too we’ve got a little more than a week to get our reading done in time for the chat!  Haven’t started at all and want to join in still? Check out the thread for June’s read: The Lucky One by Nicholas Sparks. Otherwise get ready, because June 28th is our monthly book chat hosted by JoyLynn  of Blue Heart Scraps!

If you can’t make the chat, do not hesitate to participate in our discussion thread! If you’re already ready for NEXT month’s book, the polls have been closed and the book chosen! Our read for July is Unwind by Neal Shusterman.

Sales, books and? I think that’s all I’ve got for you today! Told ya, short and sweet!  Again, I hope everyone has a perfect Sunday full of love and family and a wee bit a scrapping! ;)

Weekly Wrap-Up: Sales, CT Calls, Book Club OH MY!

Good morning!

I’ve got lots of little tidbits to share with you!

First, today is the LAST day to get Pixelily’s shop at 50% OFF! In honor of her grand opening here at GingerScraps her entire shop is on sale!

She’s definitely become a fast favorite of mine, and I’ve certainly taken advantage of her Grand Opening Sale! ;) If there is anything you’ve had your eye on, today is the last day to grab it at half off!!

In case you missed last week’s wrap-up, there are two CT calls happening right now, one for Z Pink Boudoir Designs and one for JenC Designs!

I’m happy to see that we’ve had a few new members join our forum! It’s always exciting “seeing” new faces, meeting new friends! I love watching our community grow and grow. :)  One of the things I love most about the DigiScrapVerse is just how..vast it is! People from ALL over the world come together to share themselves through digital scrapbooking. Truly awesomeness.

Let’s see, what other little exciting tidbits do I have to share with you?

How about another sale? And with Father’s Day just a week away this is doubly awesome!

Connie Prince’s Dear Dad kit is on sale for over 50% OFF right now! I have had my eye on this kit for quite some time, and took this opportunity to snag ALL the coordinating packs to it as well!

In addition, there are some great wordart pieces by Kathy Winters Designs available in our store as well!

Before I wrap up the wrap-up ;) I’ve got to stick in just a couple more quick little bits!

One, don’t forget about GingerScraps Book Club! This month we’re reading Nicholas Sparks’ The Lucky One. I’ve, personally, never read a Nicholas Sparks novel, but am quite looking forward to it! Also, make sure you go vote for next month’s book in the Pick Our Book Poll! There are some terrific books on the poll for July, don’t forget to vote for the one YOU want to read! :)  And now that I got totally excited about our book club, I forgot the other thing I wanted to say!  …and with a little prodding of my crazy mind I totally remembered!  The second little bit I wanted to leave you with was our Ask the Designer upcoming post! We need YOU, our gorgeous community to come up with questions to ask the designers! Have a burning question you’re just dying to know? Check out the forum thread where you can pose it to all three of June’s featured designers or just one specifically. :)

Okay, now it’s time for me to refill my empty coffee cup and get some good scrap time in today!  The heat is forcing me inside- to which I don’t mind one bit ;) Time to get scrappy with it! Bwahaha! :)

Have a wonderful rest of your weekend, wherever you are spending it!
