That&#8217;s where we&#8217;re going today. It&#8217;s really easy, but I can complicate anything! I&#8217;ll show you the easy way, and the more complicated way then let you decide how you&#8217;ll do it. Sound good?<\/p>\n<p>But first, let&#8217;s talk about <strong>Styles<\/strong> a little bit. What are they, anyway? Essentially, they&#8217;re little automatic scripts that allow you to alter and enhance individual layers in your <strong>Photoshop Elements<\/strong> layouts. They include things like shadows, glitter, metal, fabric, gel, wood, cork, texture&#8230; so many different <strong>Styles<\/strong> exist and more are being created all the time. Several <span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>GingerScraps<\/strong><\/span> designers create <strong>Styles<\/strong> that coordinate with their kits. In fact, many of the <span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><a style=\"color: #ff6600\" href=\"https:\/\/store.gingerscraps.net\/GingerBread_Ladies\/\"><strong>GingerBread Ladies<\/strong><\/a><\/span>&#8216; collabs have <strong>Styles<\/strong> files in them, so you&#8217;ve probably got a bunch you aren&#8217;t even aware of! One is to click the <strong>Window<\/strong> tab along the top of the workspace then choose <strong>Styles<\/strong> from the drop-down menu. The second way &#8211; the one I use because it&#8217;s right there &#8211; is to click on the <strong>Styles<\/strong> <strong>button<\/strong> at the bottom of the <strong>Layers Panel<\/strong>. Once you&#8217;ve accessed them, there&#8217;s a <strong>Style Picker bar<\/strong> at the top of the <strong>Layers Panel<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-47850\" src=\"https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2-2-500x269.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2-2-500x269.jpg 500w, https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2-2-768x414.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2-2-875x472.jpg 875w, https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/2-2.jpg 1514w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s the <strong>Style Picker<\/strong>. It will let you see all the <strong>Styles<\/strong> that are already <strong>Loaded<\/strong>. <strong>Elements<\/strong> includes several default <strong>Styles<\/strong> embedded in the software (Bevels, Complex, Drop Shadows, Glass Buttons, Image Effects, Inner Glows, Inner Shadows, Outer Glows, Patterns and more) That little stack of lines to the right of it is where the actual <strong>Styles Menu<\/strong> hides.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-47851\" src=\"https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/3-2-500x270.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/3-2-500x270.jpg 500w, https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/3-2.jpg 723w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s click on the stack of lines. With <strong>Styles<\/strong> (and <strong>Brushes<\/strong>, which are <strong>Loaded<\/strong> in exactly the same way), I rename the files then move them into the folder where <strong>Elements<\/strong> will look for them first. I&#8217;ve outlined the path here. The path is <strong>C:\\Program Files\\Adobe\\Photoshop Elements [Version #]\\Presets\\Styles<\/strong>. This makes it easier for me to find them later but it&#8217;s not the only way to manage them.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-47853\" src=\"https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/5-2-500x269.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/5-2-500x269.jpg 500w, https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/5-2-768x414.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/5-2-875x472.jpg 875w, https:\/\/gingerscraps.net\/gsblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/01\/5-2.jpg 1247w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>You can see that <strong>Styles<\/strong> files have the tag <strong>.ASL<\/strong> or <strong>.asl<\/strong> after the file name. Knowing that, you can let <strong>Windows<\/strong> search for your <strong>Styles<\/strong>. Some <strong>Photoshop Styles<\/strong> will work with <strong>Elements<\/strong> and some won&#8217;t. <span style=\"color: #0000ff\"><a style=\"color: #0000ff\" href=\"https:\/\/www.brusheezy.com\/styles\/21639-elements-photoshop-styles\"><strong>Brusheezy<\/strong><\/a><\/span>, which I&#8217;ve shared before, is pretty good at separating them out.
