Challenge Spotlight – NEW Designer Spotlight Challenge

Good morning, gorgeous scrappy ladies!  🙂  Hope everyone’s week is off to a great start; I really wish it were the weekend already so I could be at home in the A/C, napping and scrapping! 😉

This week I am spotlighting a new challenge here at GS: the designer spotlight challenge! In this new challenge, all you have to do is use 90% products from our spotlight designer (you can use a template from another designer)…that’s it! This is going to be a great way to introduce you to a designer whose products you might not have worked with before and get you going through your stash! 🙂 Our first designer in the spotlight is Rachel of Pretty in Green!

Our rockin’ ad team lead, April, did a great interview with Rachel last week; if you haven’t read it yet, go check it out! Rachel also provided a spiffy coupon for you to grab some of her designs for this challenge. The coupon is in the challenge thread, so scurry over and snag it!

I’m pretty excited about this challenge, ladies.  I love the idea of going through my stash and scrapping with some kits I might have forgotten about. I’ve already got one in mind for PiG…and I’m not the only one! Check out some of these layouts the ladies in the forum have created…

I love all of these layouts! Don’t you love the variety of kits used here? Rachel has even more fabulous designs in her GingerScraps shop. There’s something for everyone and some really excellent unique kits you don’t want to be without. My personal favorite kit of Rachel’s is One in a Million:

I just adore the muted colors here and how some of the sentiments look like chalkboard art before chalkboard art was even a trend–so cool! So, you can probably guess which kit I’ll be using for this challenge.  😉  How about you? We’re already a week into July, so make sure you’re got your post up in the July Challenge Tracking Thread. Tally up your completed challenges and at the end of the month, you’ll be in for a rad reward!

That’s it for today’s blog, ladies! Y’all have a wonderful week and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for another challenge spotlight. 🙂

Challenge Spotlight – Buffet Challenge

Welcome to July! Can you believe it’s already here? Seems like it was just the holiday season and now 2013 is half gone. I’ll be packing up summer clothes soon and I haven’t even put my coat away! 😉 This week I am highlighting one of my personal favorite challenges, the buffet challenge, hosted this month by Bekah of Bekah E Designs!

July’s buffet theme is…designer’s choice! Our designer had a palette to work off of with their imagination picking the theme for each of them! We’ve got a fishing kit, a graduation kit and more–don’t miss out on the buffet on sale now; take a look at some of the kits!

The colors have a nice masculine look while still being bright and summery. I’m liking the broad spectrum of themes here, too! For the buffet challenge, all you have to do is create a layout using some pieces from this month’s buffet–easy peasy! Take a look at some of the pages the ladies in the forum have already hammered out!

Loving the colors even more after checking out some of the pages you ladies have come up with! I love that the kits can be used for really specific photos or just general ones with a certain theme. This is truly a versatile buffet you need to add to your stash! 😉

If you haven’t started your post in the July 2013 Challenge Tracking Thread, you should go save your place! You’ll definitely want to check out the rewards you can earn just by playing along with us this month. Get some scrapping done AND get rewarded for it–win win! 🙂

That’s it for me for this week. I’ll see y’all next Tuesday!

Challenge Spotlight – Color Challenge

Hello all, hope this finds you doing well this rainy week in June (at least in Texas). 🙂 This week I am spotlighting the color challenge hosted by Ivonne of Craft-tastrophic Designs. Ivonne has picked out a really funky, retro color palette for you to scrap with this month and it’s definitely 70s-inspired; check it out:

I am loving the teal and orange combo! It’s a great palette for scrapping all those masculine layouts that you still want to have a pop of bright color in. If you want a little inspiration, take a look at some of the layouts the forum ladies have already created for this challenge:

Love these layouts! We’ve got so many kits in the store that have a touch of this color palette…including this month’s buffet! Check out these layout credits in the gallery if you’re curious which kit was used. 🙂 There;s only two more weeks left in June (WOW!), so make sure you’re keeping track of your completed challenges in the June 2013 Challenge Tracking thread so you can get a shiny new reward for all your hard work come next month. 🙂

That’s it for today! Y’all have a great week and I’ll see you back here next Tuesday for the last challenge spotlight of the month. 🙂

Challenge Spotlight – Inspiration Challenge

Good morning, all! Hope this finds you well. 🙂 This week I am spotlighting a fun little challenge I sometimes forget about but always end up loving: the inspiration challenge hosted this month by Isabel of Crisdam Designs! Here’s the inspiration image:

The goal is easy: use pennants/banners in your layout! Banners are so on trend right now for both digital scrapping and traditional paper crafting, so this is a cinch! I personally love banners and pennants; they are a great way  to add extra layers and depth without much effort! Check out these layouts to get your creative juices flowing…

Whether you use one, two or even three banners, this is an easy way to create more visual interest in your layout! Do you use banners and pennants in your scraps? If not, now is the time to try…and get rewarded for it! 😉 Don’t forget, you’ll need to keep track of all your completed monthly challenges in order to snag that reward, so swing by the June Challenge Tracking Thread and start your tally. If you have any questions, you can leave them in the Cookie Jar and someone will get back to you asap. 🙂

That’s it for this week; have a great one and I’ll see you next Tuesday! 🙂

Challenge Spotlight – Signature Challenge

Good morning, all! Hope your week is off to a great start; can you believe it’s now June?! It’s crazy to think that we’re already in the middle of the year, summer starting up…Christmas will be here before you know it! 😉

This week I am spotlighting a super quick, super easy challenge: the signature challenge hosted by Rebecca of Twin Mom Scraps! Usually we just have a theme to follow, but Rebecca has created a way cool template for us to work with this month instead! Sometimes I lack creativity with my forum siggy, so I love this! Take a look:

Awesome; thanks for the fun siggy temp, Rebecca! 🙂 I think the signature challenge is the first one most people do because it’s quick and fun. (Personally, I haven’t changed my sig since January…maybe this is the month to fix that!) Here’s some of the siggys the forum gals have come up with; they’re so bright and summery!

By emscraps

By momeee

By gethane

These are so awesome! Since the siggy area is somewhat small, this template is a great way to get your creative juices flowing here but still stay within the space–pretty great, right? 🙂

This is a new month, so you should run over to the June Challenge Points tracking thread and snag yourself a new spot to keep track of all your completed challenges! You know we have some sweet rewards for you at the end of the month, so don’t slack (like I usually do)! 😉

Y’all have a wonderful rest of your week–don’t forget to stop by the bake sale while all those full-size products are still just $1! See you next Tuesday. 🙂

Challenge Spotlight – Template Challenge #2

Hello ladies and welcome to the last challenge spotlight for the month of May–WHAT?! Yes, I can’t believe June is going to be here next week. Where in the heck did the first half of this year go? Even crazier, I just realized this month also marks ten years since my high school graduation. Time really flies! Before the last week of May flies off, make sure you join us for a last few challenges to earn yourself a shiny new reward! This week I am spotlighting the second template challenge hosted by Wendy Tunison! I love Wendy’s templates and I’m always psyched when I see her hosting a template challenge; take a look at what she has for us this month:

Banners? Scatters? Oh yes, I like this template. 😉 Check out what the ladies in the forum have already submitted using this temp:

Good morning and happy Tuesday, all! Hope everyone had a great weekend and Mother’s Day. 🙂 I’m a little delayed with my post this morning, so I’m going to jump right in! This week I am spotlighting the word art challenge hosted by Amy Peck of Unforgettable Moments! Amy has a perfect WA for your family photos, new and old; check it out:

If you look closely, you can Amy has put a little distressing on this word art, giving it a little more depth than traditional WAs give–so pretty! If you need some inspiration, check out these wonderful layouts already in the gallery:

Challenge Spotlight – Buffet Challenge

Hello and happy May! Is everyone still recovering from iNSD? It’s finals for me so I didn’t get to do a whole heck of a lot of scrapping, but I hit up some chats, got to know some rad ladies (some might have gotten to know me more than they wanted!) and bought awesome new scrappy stuff! If you picked up this month’s buffet pieces while they were on sale, you’re all prepared for this week’s challenge spotlight: the buffet challenge hosted by Rachel of Pretty in Green! If you haven’t seen this month’s buffet yet…what are you waiting for?! Hop over to the store and check it out…

Spring has pretty much sprung at this point (except for that random cold front last week!) and it’s about that time to have pictures of pretty flowers blooming, the kiddos running around in the grass and just being out in the fun! This buffet is perfect for all your fun spring photos.

Just a week into May, the forum ladies are already flooding the gallery with gorgeous layouts using this month’s buffet. The color palette is rather unique and perfect for any occasion  Need some scrapping inspiration? Check out these layouts…

Loving these layouts already! The grey in this buffet is a lovely neutral and goes so well with the bright reddish orange and muted yellow and green. These three pages all have a great energy and capture the colors of this buffet so beautifully!  Wonderful layouts, ladies. 🙂

We’re already a week into May (what?!) so if you haven’t staked your spot out in the May Challenge Tracking Thread, you might want to mosey on over and do that! 😉 There are some cool rewards to be had if you play along with our challenges and tally up your points at the end of the month!

Ok, I’m off to get some studying in for finals this week. If anyone else is in the thick of finals–the best of luck to you! 🙂 Everyone else have a wonderful week and I’ll see y’all back here next Tuesday for another challenge spotlight!

Challenge Spotlight – Inspiration Challenge

Last Monday, the nation was pained when the Boston bombing occurred.  Last Wednesday, more pain came as a massive explosion in West, TX resulted in 14 fatalities and 200 injured. The world has become a crazy place and these tragedies remind us that life is precious and short. Please take a moment today to tell your family and friends how much they mean to you.

~

Good morning, beautiful ladies; I hope this blog finds you all well! This week I am spotlighting a challenge that is new and different every month, the inspiration challenge! This month, the inspiration challenge is hosted by Szabina of Sabee’s Creative World and I just love what she picked out to inspire us. Bold, retro patterns are everywhere lately and chevron print seems to win the race for latest design obsession! Szabina has picked chevron strips as this month’s inspiration and even has some for you to download and create with!

Freebie alert–awesome! Thanks for this challenge Szabina, I personally love chevron anything and I can’t wait to download this and create something. 🙂 I’m a little behind the class though, because the forums ladies have jumped on this and made some outstanding layouts already. Take a look:

Ok, I really had to hold back because I just love ALL the layouts in the gallery for this challenge so far! They’re all so gorgeous–seriously. I picked these three pages so you could see how the chevron strips can be hidden in lovely clusters, used boldly to bring attention to a photo or blown up, colored and even turned into arrows–clever! There are a lot more techniques being used with these chevron stripes, so make sure you check out the inspiration challenge gallery to get some ideas on how you’ll use them. 🙂

Alright–it’s crunch time. You’ve only got one more week to complete your April challenges and get them posted in the April Challenge Points Tracking thread for credit. Want a free buffet piece? How about two? How about a $5 store gift certificate? Check out the rewards system to see what you need to do to get yourself a nifty prize. If you’ve got any questions about our challenges, head over to the Cookie Jar and leave us a note. 🙂

That’s it for this week–see y’all next week! Be safe out there. <3

Challenge Spotlight – Mini Kit Challenge

Before we start, I want to extend well thoughts and wishes of peace for those directly affected by the bombing at the Boston marathon yesterday. <3

~

Hello and happy Tuesday to everyone; hope your week is starting out well as we begin the middle of April. 🙂 Today I am going to be spotlighting a challenge with a freebie: the mini kit challenge hosted by Ivonne of Craft-tastrophic Designs! This is always a fun challenge because you get a freebie AND points towards an awesome reward come next month: win/win! Let’s see the cute mini Ivonne has for us this month:

Love the colors here, pretty and spring-y, but still earthy and warm. Thanks, Ivonne! The mini kit challenge always draws lots of participation and this month is no exception. Need some inspiration for your own creation? Take a look at these lovely layouts:

WOW, these are all awesome. Not only are they pretty layouts, but they’re completely different styles and all had a unique take on the mini. I love how this small mini has been stretched and almost looks to be a full kit on these pages–very cool, ladies! 🙂

Make sure you’re keeping track of all your completed challenges this month in the April Challenge Points Tracking thread so we can tally them up and get you a lovely little reward next month for playing along.
