Challenge Spotlight – Template Challenge #2

Hello and happy Tuesday! Can you believe it’s already the third week in December?! Only a little over a week left in 2012–eep! Where did the time go? Now that school is over (all A’s–go me!), I can finally start scrapping again! Since I’m a little rusty now, I definitely want to use a template and what better way to get a freebie template than by joining in on the second template challenge hosted by one of our new designers, Isabel of Crisdam Designs! Check out the super cute template Isabel has made for us to create with the second half of this month…

Awesome, right? I love the curve along the right side and I’m always a sucker for a little paper stacking! Even though this template challenge just started, we’ve already got some wonderful layouts in the forum. Check out a few ladies’ creations here for inspiration!

I’m always thrilled to check out these challenges and see the amount of talent we have in the GS community! 🙂 I love that snowy spray Sarah has, all the vibrant ribbons Debbie used and the softer non-holiday pastels Ricki used for a little break in strictly holiday scrapping. 🙂 Wonderful work, ladies!

If you haven’t started tallying your completed challenges, you need to head over to the December Challenge Points Tracking thread and start counting up those layouts! At the end of the month, you’ll get a lovely little prize depending on how many challenges you complete. It’s not to late to get scrapping and earn a fun reward! 😀

Well, dinner’s just about ready, my tummy’s rumbling and I need to finish a Christmas craft before bed, so that’s it for me! Y’all have a great week, finish up your Christmas shopping/wrapping and I’ll see everyone back here next week for the LAST challenge spotlight of 2012! CRAZY! See you next week! 🙂

Challenge Spotlight – Font Challenge

Happy Tuesday! Hope everyone is having a great one so far; this is FINALS WEEK everywhere so the best of luck to anyone who is supposed to be studying right now! 😀 This week I am spotlighting one of my personal favorite challenges we have every month, the font challenge! This month the font challenge is hosted by Connie of Connie Prince Designs and she’s picked a tried and true font that everyone probably has and loves! Take a look:

It’s definitely a classic font, perfect for any layouts, but especially all the Christmas ones you’re sure to start creating soon! 🙂 The layouts for this challenge are already flooding into the gallery; there are plenty to choose from, but here are a few of my favorites for your own scrapping inspiration!

Gorgeous pages, as always! 🙂 I love the use of this font on all of them; see what I said about Christmas layouts? 😉

Have you started your post in the December Challenge Points Tracking thread?  You’ll need it to keep track of all your completed challenges this month so you can nab a sweet reward once the month is over! The month…of December. WHAT. How is it the end of 2012 already?! Crazy! Anyway, get those challenges completed and tallied so you can ring in the new year with a prize! 🙂 If you have any questions about this or any other monthly challenge, direct it towards the Cookie Jar and we’ll get it answered for you lickety split. 🙂

That’s it for today! I have one more final to do and I AM DONE!!! Wish me luck and y’all have a rad week! 😀

Challenge Spotlight – Mini Kit Challenge

Good morning and happy Tuesday, all! Is everyone enjoying the unseasonably warm weather? I so am NOT! It’s December and I’ve got my A/C running here in Texas to counteract the 80 degree weather. I want my chilly air and snow flurries–wahh! Even though it’s warm out, my mind is still on snowmen, snowflakes, coats and mittens! Since we might not get winter again this year, I want to scrap some older pictures from back when Texas was included in winter. This week I’m spotlighting a challenge with a freebie that will help me do just that: the mini kit challenge hosted by Kathy Winters! I absolutely adore Kathy’s designs and this mini is no exception; take a look!

Cute, right?! I just love the doodly snowflake with the stitching! I’ve got to find a good photo to use this mini with for sure.  With a freebie this cute, you know the layouts are already rolling in the forum. Here’s some scrap inspiration…

I love them all! You all captured the snowy fun of this mini and put it to great use. Now it’s your turn to snag the freebie while it lasts and scrap us up something pretty! Pop it in the gallery for some love and post it in the challenge thread so everyone can ooh and ahh over your creation. 🙂

Of course, you’ll also need to keep track of your completed challenges in the December Challenge Points Tracking thread if you want to snag a reward at the end of the month! Post your spot today and keep track all month long. 🙂

That’s it for today; y’all have a wonderful week and I’ll see you back next Tuesday! 🙂

Challenge Spotlight – Mini Kit Challenge

SO this will be a quick blog because I have a HUGE paper and presentation due tomorrow and I’m only halfway through the paper, noneway through the presentation–ACK! Hope all our US friends had a lovely, peaceful Thanksgiving and survived Black Friday! 😀 This week I am spotlighting another challenge with a freebie: the November mini kit challenge hosted by Lily of Pixelily Designs! Lily has made a beautiful, neutral -toned mini for us this month that is perfect for fall pictures, candid snapshots–anything! I really like the colors with a pop of brightness…check it out!

Absolutely love this–thanks for sharing it with us this month, Lily! The mini is called “Self Portrait” but it’s being used for way more than self portrait pics in the forum!  Lots of ladies have already got their submissions in so it’s hard to choose, but here are a few of my favorites for scrappy inspiration!

These are all amazing layouts–seriously! I like how Lisa used this kit for something other than a self portrait; so cute and the simply journaling is perfect here. I love April’s use of white space of bring focus on the title below. And Bren–this is just awesome. Your pics are adorable (you look so happy!) and your clustering is great. Beautiful creations, ladies–you’ve definitely inspired me to put this pretty mini to work! 🙂

FYI this is the LAST WEEK to get your November challenges complete and tallied! If you haven’t been tracking them in the November Challenge Points Tracking thread–you need to get on that! All challenges are due on November 30th to go towards a fabulous prize from the GS shop. Even one completed challenge gets you something, so definitely join in now even if you haven’t done any yet! If you have any questions, stop by the Cookie Jar and we’ll get back to you ASAP!

Alright, time for me to get back to my paper–UGH! Wish me luck, hehe! Hope y’all have a wonderful week and I will see you in December! 😀

Challenge Spotlight – Desktop Challenge

Hey howdy hey and happy turkey day! How is it already Thanksgiving? Where did the year go?! The weather is FINALLY cooling off here in Texas and the winter holidays are quickly approaching! As I like to say, it’s the super bowl of crafting and scrapping! 😀 This week I am spotlighting a challenge with a freebie, the desktop challenge hosted by Ivonne of Craft-tastrophic Designs! I really, really like her template for this month’s desktop challenge!

Isn’t it just the cutest template?! It’s reminiscent of ornaments and I love the overlapped circles. With a fun freebie template like this, you know the creations are just rolling in! Here a few I like from the forum:

Lovely, all of them! I love Suzanne’s patterned wall that reminds me of a chimney, Lisa’s pine needles and I especially love the crafty realism April accomplished with the buttons and ornament stickers. Awesome job, ladies–you rock! 🙂

Check out the rewards system and see what you can win just for playing along! Keep track of what you’ve completed in the November Challenge Points Tracking thread so we can get you a reward once the month is over. As always, any questions about this or any of the other monthly challenges can be sent over to the Cookie Jar. 🙂

Alright, I’ve got to get back to school work and holiday crafting. And I guess I should do my desktop for next month, as well! 😉 Y’all have a great week and a happy Thanksgiving to my US friends! See everyone next week for the last November challenge spotlight! Adios! 🙂

Challenge Spotlight – Color Challenge

Hey everyone and happy Tuesday! Sorry I missed you last week, I was sick something wicked: 101 fever, body aches, chills–the whole nine yards. It’s going around, so I guess that means fall and winter are finally coming to the south, right? Yay, I’m tired of 90 degree days! I’m ready to load up the fireplace, cuddle up in my warm winter pajamas and scrap the nights away! To get you in the fall state of mind, this week I am spotlighting the color challenge hosted by JoyLynn of Blue Heart Scraps and she’s chosen a color palette perfect for the new season! Take a look:

I love the warm, earth tones with the pretty blues for a bit of a cool touch. This is definitely an excellent palette to get you started scrapping some of your new (or old!) fall photos. With a lovely color challenge like this, the ladies in the forum have already gone to town creating some really lovely layouts. If you want some inspiration, you’ve got it!

To our GS family in the path of the storm, please be safe and keep us updated on your status when you can. We’re thinking of you and we love you!

This is the last week of October–can’t believe it–so we’re down to the wire and this is my last spotlight of the month! This week I am highlighting a challenge with a freebie: the second template challenge hosted by Rebecca of Twin Mom Scraps! Rebecca has come up with such a cute little template for us to work with; check it out!

I love the circular photo spots and the scalloped edge. Awesome; thank you Rebecca! 🙂 I’m looking through the layouts done with this template and there are just so many beautiful ones! Seriously, you gals have outdone yourselves this time–you’re making it hard for me to pick just three to highlight! Lol! To make it a little easier on myself, I picked some spooky-themed layouts since tomorrow is Halloween! Take a look at these for some inspiration with this template:

Challenge Spotlight – Word Art Challenge

Good morning, y’all! How’s your week starting off? Mine is SO BUSY. I’ve got a whole mess of school stuff due this week–it’s scarier than Halloween! I may be busy, but I’m never too busy to blog about our fabulous monthly challenges here at GingerScraps! 🙂 This week I am spotlighting another challenge with a freebie: the word art challenge hosted by Laetitia of Kawouette Designs! Let’s take a look at the wonderful WA she’s got for us this month…

LOVE. IT. What else can I say? I adore fonts, especially handwritten ones, and this WA pack is just loaded with pretty ones! I like the faded/grungy effects, too. So many word arts, so generous; thank you, Laetitia! 🙂

Of course, with a WA pack like this, the forum ladies have been churning out some awesome layouts. Here are a few for inspiration!

If you’ll notice, I cleverly picked picked three layouts with different WA quotes to  show off the range of WAs Laetitia has for us to create with this month. Aren’t I just so smart? 😉 You all did excellent jobs of using the word arts; they all add some extra meaning to your already-lovely pages.  🙂

So, it’s the middle of the month and if you haven’t started your tally in the October Challenge Points Tracking thread…do it! 🙂  You’ve got a couple more weeks to get some challenges done, uploaded and tallied so you can snag a fabulous reward! If you have any questions, direct them to the Cookie Jar.

That’s it for me for this week: now back to my regularly schedule papers and quizzes and exams and blah… Have a wonderful week! 😉
