*Lost At Sea* Week Five

And just like that, we’re down to the last week. Did you take a look at the Week 4 “Day in the Life” layouts. If not, jump over to the Week 4 Gallery and check them out.

On to the challenge for Week 5.

The weeks tracking and following the pirate captains every movement has proven to be very informative! You have an extensive log of what he does every day, all day. He is actually a very predictable man, he likes to stick to his strict schedule.

As you have been tracking the pirate captain, you noticed one of the other pirates doing the same thing. One day you make eye contact with each other, and exchange a knowing look. This exotic looking woman has long dreadlocks flowing down her back, big hoop earrings, and a beautiful vibrant parrot on her shoulder. You ask her what her name is, she is Madge ‘Temptress’ Reks and her bird is Alberta.

After a long conversation with Madge, you find out that she is heading a plan to overthrow the pirate captain. She (and more then half of the pirate crew) are not happy with the way the captain is treating them. They have been planning on taking him down, and have been waiting for the perfect time. You decide to invite her back to your room, to meet some of your GS friends, and you work through the night with a fail proof plan to take the captain down!

Bright and early the next day, you gather in the designated meeting spot. You all know exactly what your part in this plan will be.

Step 1- Madge will seduce the nasty old captain, and lead him out to the sun deck.

Step 2- The trusty parrot Alberta will fly right at the captain, and distract him.

Step 3- The feisty group of GingerScraps ladies will rush him, all at once! They will tie his feet with yards of ricrac, bind his hands with rolls and rolls of extra strong washi tape, blow glitter in his eyes, and if he fights back…. he will receive hundreds of paper cuts!! There is no hope for this swashbuckling, peg legged, man!

The plan goes off without a hitch! The rein of the mean pirate captain is over. Madge forces the captain and his crew to walk the plank!

To pay you for your help, she retrieves the captains treasure from his ship, and she divides it up between you and your GingerScraps crew.

You all helped save the day! And you get to finally head home, with a lifetime of stories, and a pocket full of treasure!

Week 5 – {The Battle} *The Challenge*

*Lost At Sea* Week Four

Another week has gone by and more of our ladies have been sent home from this crazy adventure we are on. Did you check out the layouts from last week? Make sure to see all the Treasures our ladies shared in the Week 3 Gallery.

Onto this week’s challenge:

Week 4 – {A Day In Your Life} *Challenge*
It seems like almost allof the GingerScraps gals have gotten word, they are all blending right in with the pirates. You have started to hold secret meetings and exchange ideas about how to fight these pirates.

To be quite honest, many of the pirates seem very unhappy with the pirate captain and you think they may join together and try to overthrow their leader.

This all might play out perfectly and it is possible you will not have to get involved at all. But just in case, you (and your fellow scrappers) have decided to start tracking all the movements of the pirate captain and his crew of leading men and women.

You start a journal of what they do, from the time they wake up, until the time they go to bed at night.

If you have to orchestrate a plan to take down the captain, you will be prepared!

Week 4- {A Day In Your Life} *The Challenge*
Inspired by tracking the life of the pirates, this layout will be all about a day in YOUR life. Pick a day, take photos and notes as to what you did that day, then scrap it!

The Layout Rules-

  • This layout is all about a day in your life.
  • The LO must have at least 6 photos of things you did during the day.
  • The LO must have the date of your “day in the life”.
  • There is no maximum numbers of photos allowed, go ahead and take as many as you want!
  • In the Tribal Council forum post, type out your journaling, so all players can read your journaling.
  • Templates ARE ALLOWED in this challenge.
  • You must use ALL 100% GingerScraps products when creating your Layout.
  • *Remember* Always credit the products you are using, when posting in the gallery. List the credits in the description box when uploading. When checking layouts, I need to be sure all products are from GS designers- so credits are crucial!!

Come check out the Week 4 Gallery and see what the girls are up to. Make sure to leave them some love and encouragement as well.

Scrapping Survivor *Lost at Sea* – Week 3

How much fun is everyone having? It’s hard to believe it’s already week 3. Before we go further, head over to the Week 2 Gallery to see the awesome letters our ladies wrote.

So what are our scrappers turned pirates up to this week?

While you wait to see if your message in a bottle finds its way to a willing savior, you have continued to put on your pirate disguise each day. You are blending in quite well, and actually learning some very interesting things about these pirates.

One buccaneer told you that the pirate captain has a treasure hidden on his ship, it is said to be a huge booty of doubloons and rare gems! He wants to get a crew together to steal the treasure. This sounds like risky business to you, the last thing you need is to get wrapped up in some crime with a band of pirates! You wish the buccaneer luck and move along.

As you walk away you begin to think about your own life, and your treasures. If you were to make a treasure chest, what prized possessions would you stowaway?

Week 3 – {Booty} *The Challenge*
This layout is all about your own “booty”. If you were to put your most prized possessions in a treasure chest, what would they be?

The Layout Rules-

This layout is all about your own “booty”

  • The LO must have at least 2 of your most precious possessions.
  • The LO MUST have photos of the items you would put in your treasure chest.
  • There is no maximum numbers items or of photos allowed.
  • Be sure to journal on your page, so we can learn what your treasures are, and you can preserve them in a scrapbook page for years to come.

Here are a few tips/ ideas for your layout composition-

  • You treasures do not have to be actual physical items, for example, if one is your religion, then find an item that will represent that, such as a bible.
  • Maybe your treasure is your child or pet, then find something that can represent that child or pet, something that you could take a photo of, like a drawing by your child, or your dogs favorite toy.

Make sure to check out the Week 3 Gallery and leave some love for our pirate ladies!!

August Featured Designers – Blue Heart Scraps and Wimpychompers Creations

Welcome to August. Is everyone ready for school to begin? I have one headed back to college for her last year and one sitting this college year out and getting a job instead. I’m sure everyone is ready for a routine again.

With a new month comes new Featured Designers. This month we are featuring Blue Heart Scraps and Wimpychompers Creations. I sent them our fun (and somewhat wacky) questions to answer. Let’s see what they gave us.

First up is JoyLynn of Blue Heart Scraps.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

That’s tough, because there are so many places that I’ve never had the opportunity to see. And, then there are some places (like Germany and France) that I’ve been that I’d love to take my children to see. But, today? I’d probably choose Australia. I’ve had a very, very dear friend there (that I met online!) for more than 10 years. I’d love to finally get the opportunity to meet her, and let her meet my boys!

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Caution: Extreme Awesomeness In Use!

What is one thing you will never do again?

Have a child. I love the two I have, and though part of me would love a little girl…my two boys are more than enough!

What’s your favorite movie?

That changes almost as often as my underwear! We are HUGE movie fans in this house! So, can I be cheesy and choose the Minion Movie?

Do you love or hate rollercoasters?

LOVE!!!

Do you believe there is intelligent life in outer space?

I think it’s a bit crazy to think we’re the only living things in the universe.

What was the last thing you ate?

Pizza – nom nom nom

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Neon Green

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

Oh, I have so many, lol (thank you OCD!) The worst, though, may be when people spell my name with a lower case l. JoyLynn – my first and middle name squished together, so 2 capital letters! And even numbers! *shudder*

Pirates or Ninjas?

Argh!

Country or City?

I live in the city – but I’d love to be in the country with a huge garden and a few animals and no internet! 😉

Morning or Night?

Night

Indoors or Outdoors?

Outdoors

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Vanilla

Cats or Dogs?

Where’s the neither option? 😉 Cats are boring, and dogs scare me silly, lol!

Who did you look up to as a kid?

My dad. Hands down.

What is the one thing that makes you happy despite any mood?

My boys! One hug, one giggly laugh, one “Mommy, I sure do love you!” and I’m smiling. No matter what life’s throwing at me.

Do you have any tattoos? If yes what and where are they- If no do you want any and what would you get?

None, but I’ve always wanted one. I’d get an infinity symbol of the word enough on my wrist. A reminder than I am always enough.

Name one television character that you simply adore?

Dr. Sheldon Cooper. Bazinga!

Thanks JoyLynn. Make sure to check out her GingerScraps Store, Facebook page and Blog.

Next up, let’s see how Christina of Wimpychompers Creations answered the same questions.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

Somewhere tropical and with clear blue water. Living in California I like the beach but the water is so polluted and dirty it’s kind of gross. Definitely wish it wasn’t that way.

If you had a warning label, what would yours say?

Love this question! Um… mine would probably say “Mama Bear… don’t mess with the kids!”

What is one thing you will never do again?

Leave a pot of water boiling and forget about it. I’ve done this a couple of times and it never ended well (especially when sanitizing bottle nipples… that one was a mess!)

What’s your favorite movie?

I love the Night at the Museum series because I can watch it with the family.

Do you love or hate rollercoasters?

I like them but hate sharp drops or flipping upside down so it’s an in between answer.

Do you believe there is intelligent life in outer space?

I think sometimes we are missing intelligent life on earth! lol. Honestly I haven’t thought too much about it, definitely none in our galaxy.

What was the last thing you ate?

Air popped popcorn… which I burned half of and had to throw out.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be?

Golden Yellow

What’s your biggest pet peeve?

People who let disabilities hold them back, or worse enable their disabled child to think they can’t do anything!

Pirates or Ninjas?

Pirates

Country or City?

Suburbs. lol. I have lived country style forever but think city sounds nice.

Morning or Night?

Night

Indoors or Outdoors?

Both!? Depends on the weather right?

Chocolate or Vanilla?

Chocolate

Cats or Dogs?

Dogs

Who did you look up to as a kid?

My grandma I think.

What is the one thing that makes you happy despite any mood?

My son Alex (11), he always knows what to do to make me feel better and gives great hugs.

Do you have any tattoos? If yes what and where are they- If no do you want any and what would you get?

Nope, too scared of needles! If I did I would have flowers or some gorgeous script font and a bird flying.

Name one television character that you simply adore?

Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) on New Girl. She’s awesome!

Thanks Christina!! Check out her GingerScraps Store, Facebook page as well.

And remember, they have teamed up to bring you this month’s Daily Download and let me tell you, it’s HUGE!! Check out the sneak peek.

Thanks for hanging out and reading about these fabulous designers.

Scrapping Survivor *Lost at Sea* – Week 2

It’s Week 2 in Scrapping Survivor *Lost at Sea* and things are getting fun. Make sure to check out the Gallery to see some of the great and creative layouts from last week. So many ways to make yourself a pirate.

Week 1 Gallery

Let’s see what our Survivor contestants are up to this week:

Wow, you are pretty impressed with yourself and your friends! You pulled it off! You were able to act like one of the pirates and wander around the cruise ship undetected!

You secretly tell other women to spread the word, and soon you begin to see ladies you know from GingerScraps, walking around and acting like pirates! Hopefully the real pirates won’t catch on!!
You decide that it is time to come up with a plan to get rescued from this situation.

Of course there is no way for you to call or text for help, you’re in the middle of the sea! How about the call for help, from the old days…. A message in a bottle!! You tell all your fellow GS friends the plan and you all begin to craft your messages, to be thrown in the sea and hopefully end up in the hands of someone willing and able to help.

Week 2- {Message in a Bottle} *The Challenge*
This layout is all about your “message in a bottle”. You need to write a letter to the person you think (or you wish) would come to your rescue. This person can be living or passed on, they can be a person you know, or someone that you wish would save you (like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson).

The Layout Rules-

  • This layout is all about your “message in a bottle”
  • The LO must have your message to who you would like to “save” you, use journaling to write your message.
  • The LO MUST have at least one photo of the person you are writing to.
  • There is no maximum numbers of photos allowed.
  • In the Tribal Council forum post, type out your journaling, so all players can read your journaling.
  • Templates ARE ALLOWED in this challenge.
  • You must use ALL 100% GingerScraps products when creating your Layout.
  • **IMPORTANT** During the week 1 challenge I was lenient about the 100% GS products rule. I did state that I would allow 1 unique element. HOWEVER, this did cause some confusion, so moving forward- we must stick to the rules of 100% GS Products! Fonts do not count, you are allowed to use any fonts you prefer. But ALL other products on your layout must be from GS designers. Thank you for understanding, keeping the rules clear is important and helps everything run smooth.
  • *Remember* Always credit the products you are using, when posting in the gallery. List the credits in the description box when uploading. When checking layouts, I need to be sure all products are from GS designers- so credits are crucial!!

Here are a few tips/ ideas for your layout composition-

  • Use this opportunity to write a love letter to someone you love, tell them why you love them and admire them.
  • Be silly and create a total fantasy layout or your dream rescue aka… My earlier example of being rescued by The Rock 😉 yea, I kinda love him lol
  • Write an actual letter then scan it in and use that on your layout.
  • Have fun finding fonts that look like your handwriting (or what you wish your handwriting looked like).
  • Take a look at the Official Scrapping Survivor Season 6 *Lost At Sea* collab! It is an awesome collab and packed full of goodies perfect for your Survivor challenges.

Check out the Gallery for the Week 2 Challenges and leave some love.
