Behind the Scrapbook….

It’s that time of year again!! Whoot Whoot!! The kids are back in school!! Nah nah nah nah nah! Well I know around my house my kids are excited to see all their friends… it’s been a long busy summer so I think I’m ready too:)

Here are Julie’s kids first day back… all smiles!!

Julie has 2 kids in High School!

And Tyler started Kindergarten…with a few tears  He just wants to stay home with Mommy and Daddy and Travis and play.

Yay Tyler!!! I’m sure you’re going to love it!! I’m not sure how it is for everyone else but I have to say I had a really hard time when my kids started school…. they grow up so fast!!!

Anna may not be going to school this year but she also had a big change in her life!

Rachel of Pretty in Green told me about her littlest one’s milestone of getting a big bed. It’s amazing how fast they grow up! Rachel said Ana just loves her new big girl bed, and has slept on it every night sofar. She told me how crazy of a difference it is between her 2 kids Gage screamed and got into everything when he should have been sleeping, and would pass out on the floor. Ana hasn’t screamed once nor has she even gotten out of bed to play, she just sleeps! Isn’t that funny! Look at this adorable layout she made for this milestone ( used kit Rejoice by Terri’s thing o my jigs)

oh and she told me about how she almost lost these pics and a few others but her Sister in law was able to retrive them off her card, thank goodness, these pics are to cute!

Journaling: Such a Big Girl, you were so ready for your
big girl bed! once we laid it down you sat
down on it first and then jumped a few times
then you had to grab your Dora and a blanket
and lay down, you kept saying, nite nite and
pretended to sleep. your such a sweetie. your
first week with the bed you never screamed
once you stayed in bed all night sleeping sound.
you even started to put your self to bed when
mommy would say bed time. your growing up
to fast, your my baby!

SO have your kids hit any milestones lately?? My youngest is in grade 7 this year… so no more elementary school for us anymore… 🙁 Kinda makes me sad!!

Let’s Get Crafty: Scrabble Tile Necklaces

Thursday!! Let’s Get Crafty!! Woot!!

Let’s make some Scrabble tile Necklaces!

I was so lucky one day and found 2 scrabble games at the Goodwill! I love me some Goodwill! I have been searching for them! I really wanted to make some Scrabble Tile Necklaces!

So, this is my first of many to come. It was so fun and easy to make.

The first thing I did was drill a hole in the top of the tile, a tiny hole with a tiny drill bit.

Then is designed my necklace front in PSE. Printed it on matte photo paper. Covered it with Mod Podge to seal it. Glued it to the back side of the tile. (Wait for the Mod Podge to dry)

Then apply your Diamond Glaze, just a nice smooth coat. I goes on so easy!

Now you just have to wait for it to dry! When it’s nice and dry take a piece of beading wire make a loop in the top and stick it in the hole. Put a little super glue in the hole to hold it. Then put a split ring on the loop and put it on your chain! Your done! You can wear it both ways!

Check out these ones.  🙂 I like cherries. Aren’t they cute!

Have a great day! Go find you some Scrabble Tiles and get crafting!

Wanted: Sugar Cookies!!

Challenge Spotlight – The HeART of it

It’s Monday again! Time to go back to work 🙁 or if you’re lucky like me you get to stay home with the kiddies and maybe even get a chance to do the Spotlight Challenge! Last week Sarah did and won a prize from me with her Busy Bee LO! Great use of photography angles Sarah! Sarah & Sara Bliss both get a Bonus Brownie Point for commenting as well.   Here’s your prize Sarah:

Now onto this weeks Spotlight Challenge! Do you love all the new challenges at Gingerscraps? You know I do! Here’s another great one by Jen called The HeART of it.  This challenge is more about YOU. About recording your thoughts and feelings. For this month Jen has a challenge topic for each week. This week  the topic is:

Week 3 due Aug 23rd: Open Your Eyes
There is always something in our lives that we need to pay closer attention to. Make a page about what you want to “open your eyes” more for. You must include an eye OR a window on your layout.

Here’s some layouts from earlier this month to give you inspiration:

Week 1 due Aug 9th: My Safe Place
Create a page or pages about your safe place. You must include a house or building element somewhere on your layout.

by Julie

From week 2:
Week 2 due Aug 16th: Bling it on
Even if you are not a girly girl, there is a part of all of us that wants to be feminine. Make a page about your “bling”, no matter how small, that you do or wear to show your softer side. You must use something sparkly or lacy on your layout.

by vcjordi

I love this idea for getting more about yourself out there in your scrapping. You should try The HeART of it too! Then come back here and post the link to your LO  in the gallery and post it in a comment here. Next week I’ll randomly select one and that person will win a prize from ME! (Harmonystar). CT & those who have already done the challenge are elligable. As an added bonus, again I will be giving a bonus brownie point to all those that leave a comment! Let me see those comments!

Behind the Scrapbook the Real Lives of GingerScraps!

Hey there girlfriends! Hope you had a great week, I know the ladies at GingerScraps have been really busy with visits from the tooth fairy , vacations to picturesque locations, meeting old and new friends and helping cure Cancer… pretty good for one week I think!!

Here’s the scoop…

Jodi’s daughter Rebekah got a visit from the tooth fairy! She has been seeing the dentist for work on her teeth and 2 had to be removed. Rebekah was a trooper though and was happy to learn about the tooth fairy. That night she did not put her teeth under her pillow because the tooth fairy didn’t have anything for her yet, but the next day when Rebekah woke up and said “it didn’t work” Jodi explained that the teeth had to be under the pillow for it to work. So the next night Rebekah put her teeth under the pillow. The next morning Jodi asked Rebekah if the tooth fairy came. She threw her pillow off her bed and said “she did!” and was happy to see 2 gold $1 coins in the place of her teeth.
After Rebekah’s teeth were removed she had to be on a soft food diet, so after having a dinner of macaroni and cheese, she had some chocolate pudding. That’s what’s all over her face in some of the pictures.

Rebekah went into her room and put on some of her princess clothes and said that she was the tooth fairy. So Jodi gave her the teeth the dentist gave them and Rebekah posed for some pictures.

What a cute tooth fairy!

This is Rebekah showing off her two gold coins that the tooth fairy had left her.

Julie went on a little road trip with her Family and Friends! So much fun and so beautiful! I’m a little jealous!! What a beautiful place!

Lake Tahoe

In Virgina City after the “Shootout”

Spotted having lunch…. here’s what Rachel had to say….

Thursday I got to meet Stephanie in person for the first time. We met for lunch and had as much conversation as my kiddos would let me. It was exciting getting together with a friend I’ve known for about 2 years.

And I got to see baby Delilah! Oh yes be jealous!

Mandy wanted to share with you a special moment….

My daughters boyfriend Ben and his younger sister Hannah took part in the Weekend to End Womens Cancer in memory of their mom Cheryl who lost her battle with Cancer a couple years ago. It was a 60 km two day walk. This was Ben’s 4th year walking and Hannah’s second year walking. Up to date Ben has raised over $12,000 towards the fight against Womens Cancers. Ben’s mom Cheryl was a volunteer and walker for this organization for 7 years before she herself had Cancer. Her team Northern Knockers still walk in her memory every year thanks to her kids. Next year my daughter Kelsey will be joining the team as a walker and I will be volunteering as a pit crew.

Each walker pledges to raise at least $2000 and walk 60 km

Her are a few photos… I was pretty busy running around that I only managed a couple shots This is day two and 53 km in!

L to R- Dennis (Bens dad), Jackie (Hannahs BFF), Ben (playing with his Ipod), Hannah (looking too upbeat for just walking 50 km!), and Kelsey (she walked the last 7 KM with Ben in her flip flops!!)

And off they go….

And here the are crossing the finish line!!!

Have you ever volunteered your time to an organisation or raised money for charity?? If so tell us about it!!

I’m off to dig up some more dirt:) Hope you have a fun filled weekend!

Happy Scrapping:)
