New GingerBread Lady!! 3/16

Please pardon the interruption but there is some very exciting news that just can’t wait until Friday’s New Release newsletter. How do I know this can’t wait? Well, I’ve been spring cleaning my house. It started with the painting I told you about on Friday, then turned into closets, bathrooms, light fixtures, etc. Oh yes, I’ve been bitten by the spring cleaning bug. My house looks great, but me? I’m exhausted. Anyway, I stopped the cleaning to tell you this news!
We have a new designering joining us! Yup!! Ivonne (aka Craft-tastrophic Designs) is joining us!!
We asked her to tell us about herself and this is what she said:
Hi! My name is Ivonne and I´m the designer behind Craft-tastrophic Designs.
I live in Monterrey, Mexico and I´m a pediatrician. I´ve been married to Jorge almost for 14 years, plus 6 more as a couple, plus 4 more as friends. We have a beautiful daughter 5 years old who is the protagonist in almost every one of my LOs. I love everything craft!!! and in july 2009 started digital design and Craft-tastrophic was born…

Challenge Spotlight – Food Coloring

Well we’ve hit just about halfway through March. It’s time for that weather to be lamb-like right? Well outside my window it is pouring & both my kiddos have developed a cough. I feel like it’s been one illness after another for 3 months. Sheesh. But on the upside it is Monday and that means time for the Challenge Spotlight! But first we need a winner from last week! I’m a day late posting the LOTW winner, but that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it!! It just means I had a sick little one and he didn’t want to share me with my computer for any longer. I am hoping it’s only allergies for him this time, but whatever it is, extra special cuddles help him feel better.

Hi…no that doesn’t sound right. Happy Friday..no, that is over-used. Gosh, I can’t figure out how to start this newsletter anymore. Maybe I’ll just jump right in and tell you what my plans are this weekend. There is a reason for it so you’ll just have to suffer through my long boring plans…hehe. Actually we have exciting plans. We are going to be painting the boys’ bedroom. My oldest wanted the room to be red. Yeah, his favorite color. My middle son wanted green. They all finally agreed on blue. That is all well and good but do you know how many different shades of blue there are? Too many. Finally we agreed, something called Summer Splash.
You are probably wondering where all of this is going. Well, painting is going on because we are feeling the spring cleaning itch. The designers here at GingerScraps are feeing the same way. March Daily Download #11

Let’s Get Crafty, St Patty’s Style!

Hello friends in digiland! Steph AKA ScrappyCocoa here. I have taken over the blog for today!! Lucky Julie gets the day off! Today I am going to show you how to make a simple and quick St. Patrick’s day wreath. Here is what we are making-
Ok lets get started! You will need a wreath- I found mine at the Dollar Store- some fabric to wrap around the wreath- I love to shop the remnants at JoAnn’s for projects just like this, 3 sheets of green colored felt, scissors, hot glue and gems{also found in the Dollar section at JoAnn’s.
Next cut a long strip of fabric. Grab your hot glue, dab a piece on the wreath {be generous here, you don’t want your fabric coming unraveled} And begin twisting and wrapping your fabric around the wreath, like so-
Continue wrapping until you have covered the whole wreath. This will probably take several strips of fabric. Just remember to use plenty of glue when gluing the end of a strip down. Next grab your felt. Time for flowers! Cut several circles in 3 different sizes. It doesn’t matter if your circles aren’t perfect.
I used dark green for my large circles, kelly green for my medium circles and lime green for my small circles.
Now we are going to burn the edges of the felt. This step could be left out, but I personally like the look of burned edges. Hold your circle with the thumb in the middle. Gently burn the edge with a lighter. Careful, not to much, you don’t want to set your circle on fire!
When you are done your circle should look like this-
Now it’s time to assemble the flowers. Start with a large flower then a medium and end with a small. You could sew or glue these together. If gluing, just just a tiny dab of hot glue between circles because it soaks easily through the felt. Once put together add a gem or button of some sorts into the center of the flower.
And now for the hard part! Ok not really, but I always have trouble deciding how I want to arrange my flowers on my wreath. I think it is the easiest if you prop your wreath up on something to play around. Too bad I cant do it in PS with layers and all that!
I decided that my wreath needed more flowers, so I made a few more with just lime green that were just small in size. Glue them on with plenty of hot glue. And we have a wreath!

I made the subway art, then vases from the dollar store filled with candy and a white plate from the dollar store and vinyl decal from HERE. Hope you enjoyed this tut! Go out and make your own St Patrick’s day wreath!
