GingerBread Girl Inspiration: Colleen

Colleen

Good afternoon scrappers! Today we are going to be getting some digital scrapbooking inspiration from one of the GingerBread girls. One of the lead GingerBread girls to be exact! Today we are going to be taking a look at Colleen’s gallery.

Colleen’s gallery is packed full of real-life moments scrapped. Each layout is filled with great photos and fun themes! Colleen can really fill a page. She knows how to take a kit and use it to make her photos shine. Everything she seems to scrap really compliments each other. She also has some fantastic two-page layouts! Here are just a few examples of Colleen’s layouts. All images are linked. I hope you get some inspiration from these & if you have the time, leave her some love.

Creative Style | Green

GS_blog_CreativeStyle_Header

Hello scrappers. Today we are going to take a look at a creative style. Well, let me honest. It isn’t really a style so much as getting some inspiration from color.

There are many things that can make a layout stand out in the gallery. What grabs one person’s attention might not grab another’s. I could write multiple blog posts about what grabs mine. That being said, seeing a layout that has predominantly one color always grabs my attention.  Since we are edging up on St. Patrick’s Day, I thought it would be fun to get some inspiration from the color green.

We are going to take a look at some pretty green images, some great digital scrapbooking layouts done up in green, and round it up with the latest green filled goodies from the store. If those do not do it for you, make sure you check out the Let’s Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day post from last week.

Now, here are some lovely images to get those creative juices flowing. Did you know there was a place you could get pretty nice stock photos for free? These images are from Pexels. (All photos on Pexels are licensed under the Creative Commons Zero (CC0) license. This means the pictures are completely free to be used for any legal purpose.) I use them on my personal blog. I thought I would share with you guys while we get some inspiration for scrapping with green.

Fantastic right? I find inspiration for layouts in all kinds of places. Looking at beautiful photos are one of them. Want a bit more inspiration? Here are some layouts that are predominantly green. You know, to help get those ideas flowing! (all images are linked to their counterpart in the store. Go leave some loving!)

Are these not some lovely layouts! I know part of that is the great designers we have here at GingerScraps. These layouts are beautifully scrapped though. I hope you found at least some inspiration from today’s post. I will leave you with some great designs to get those green filled layouts scrapped. As usual, all images are linked to their counterpart. We actually have an entire location in the store just for GREEN items.

March Featured Designer – Leaving a Legacy Designs

Good Sunday morning everyone. I can’t believe it’s almost the middle of March. I finally slowed down a little and got a chance to talk to Kimberly of Leaving a Legacy Designs and ask her a few questions.

How did you get started in digital scrapbooking?
I started digiscrapping in 2011.
What made you decide to design?
I decided to start designing in 2011 when I figured out how to scan my punched art into the computer and clean it up.
What do you use to create your designs (program, additional tools, etc.)?
I use Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator to design.
Describe your design workplace.
I usually design in an office but I also have a laptop that will travel with me so I can design almost anywhere.
What is your favorite thing about designing?
I love creating the themed elements and coming up with the idea.
What is your favorite kit currently in your GS store and why?
Picking a favorite kit is like picking a favorite child, I couldn’t pick one. I do however really like my newest one Sleepy Head right now.
What do you do when you are feeling very sad or depressed?
When I am depressed I like to scrap or sleep.
Which is the best vacation you’ve ever had in your life?
Any vacations with my family especially the ones to Disney World.
Which is your most cherished childhood memory?
Holidays with my family.
What do you order when you go to Starbucks?
I don’t go to Starbucks (gasp!).
What is your favorite kind of cookie?
Chocolate chip.
Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
Optimist.
Would you change your name if you could? If so, what would you change it to?
I like my name.
What is your favorite pizza topping?
I am simple..cheese and pepperoni.
If you could give the world one piece of advice, what would it be?
Love God, Love others.
What do you do to wake up in the morning?
Drink water and my Plexus.
What is a small luxury that you treat yourself to?
A pedicure each month.
What did you want to be when you were small?
A teacher.
Which would you rather do: wash dishes, mow the lawn, clean the bathroom, or vacuum the house?
Vacuum any time.
If you could hire someone to help you, would it be with cleaning, cooking, or yard work?
I would hire someone to clean.
What would you do if you won the lottery?
Give some, pay off the house and hire a maid.
What’s the most interesting thing you can see out of your office or kitchen window?
Trees and kids playing.
Share your favorite recipe with us.
Cinnamon Roll Bites. Open a 12-oz can of biscuits; cut each into fourths. Toss to coat pieces in a mixture of 1/4 C brown sugar + 1T cinnamon. Spread in baking dish. Pour on 3T melted butter. Bake 20-25 min. Once done cover with cream cheese frosting and enjoy! My oldest is allergic to red dye as well as some preservatives so we make our own version of cinnamon buns/bites.

Thanks Kimberly! Make sure to check out her GS Store, her Facebook page, and her blog.

And make sure you are grabbing the Daily Download each day from the GingerScraps Blog.

Share The Luck of the Irish With Gingerscraps!

Dia dhaoibh! According to Google, that’s “Hello” in Gaelic! Best I can do is “Hello” in an Irish accent, a bad one! St. Patrick’s Day! Everyone becomes Irish for a day! Enjoy a pint, pinch someone not wearing green (where does that come from anyway?), and enjoy some new gorgeous kits from the designers! They’re gearing up for spring, but don’t worry, there are some great “green” kits in there as well! Slán go fóill!

Before I show you the new goodies, here are a few layouts I picked out of the gallery using our new Buffet and this month’s Monthly Mix,called “A Bit of Luck”!
