Happy Birthday Gingerscraps

Do not adjust your calendar. You’re not confused. It truly is Wednesday, not Friday. Today, Gingerscraps turns FOUR! I cannot believe that it’s been four years. Sometimes it feels like forever, and sometimes it just doesn’t feel like it’s been that long.

In the past four years, we’ve seen new designers just starting out, and we’ve seen a few retire. Each year, we add to the Birthday Buffet, and this year is no different! It’s My Birthday has a few new additions!

We still have the previous minis, as well!

As always, the CT had a blast playing with the minis!

I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite party games is a good old fashion Cake Walk.
You walk around a circle and if you land on a winning number, you get a delicious cake! Well we have our very own digi Cake Walk!

It’s almost officially fall. Monday, in the States, is Labor Day, the official end of summer. The leaves will be changing from green to browns, and reds, and golds. Or, if you’re on the other side of the globe, from reds, browns, and golds to green again.

Life is beautiful and wonderful like that! There’s something about the changing of the seasons that makes you reflect on the good and happy things in life.

Isn’t she a cutie? We asked her to tell us about herself, and she told us she’d try not to be boring!

I live in Central California with my husband, Jeff, and our furry-babies… Riley, a small terror… I mean, terrier! and our two guinea pigs – Sparkles and Bubbles. Jeff and I love to travel the west coast, we like doing outdoorsy things like hiking, geocaching, kayaking, fishing, camping, etc. I work from home running our small businesses, including the Real Life Scrapped social network! When I have the time I LOVE to read cozy mysteries, bake goodies that go straight to my hips, work off those goodies with Zumba & my treadmill, and do crafty things like crocheting & embroidery.

Hi! It’s finally Friday!!!

DSD Weekend is upon us!

Are you ready for the excitement of this weekend? I am beyond excited!

Jacque here – let me start with a little update. We had a crazy storm the other day that dumped over a foot of snow on us (yes! in October) and knocked out power for tons of people. Talk about a rude awakening – in the 15 years at this house – the power has gone out for no more than a couple hours at a time. 3 days with no heat was not something we were prepared for! Thankfully – all is back to normal and we are all thawed out! 🙂

The other update I want to provide you with is about the Daily Download for November. It IS coming!!! Things have been crazy with the behind the scenes preparations for DSD weekend but Ginger is working very hard to get it all set for y’all. As soon as its ready to go for you – we’ll get it posted – I promise! 🙂 So – to tide you over – I’d like to invite you over to my blog to check out my very first attempt at a freebie mini-kit for a blog train. Here is a little more about Gina… in her own words,

“Hi, I’m Gina and a mother of two children, Marisa who is 7 and Tristan who is 2. I named him after Brad Pitt’s character in Legends of the Fall. I have been married for 14 years this coming October. I lived in Sarasota, FL since 2001. I started out my digi/scrapping hobby now career with paper scrapping back in 2003. I worked part time at a scrapbook store and was on the design team. I have always loved computers and before I switched my major in college to Fashion Buying and Design I majoring in Advertising with Graphic Arts. That was before it was on computers though. So when I found out about digital scrap-booking in 2007, I naturally switched over. I ended up over the years being on 11 CT’s and at the end of last summer I decided I wanted to design. I am pretty much self taught with PS and now just starting to learn Illustrator. But last November when I debuted as a guest designer, it was just templates. Only recently did I start designing kits. I am still learning and love it when I find out a new tip or trick or way of doing something in PS. I use CS 5 for both PS and Illustrator. I also use Art Rage and Repper. I can draw but not very well, so that is a goal of mine to try to draw more myself. Besides digi, I love to make jewelry and have a store at Etsy and I love reading. just got a Kindle earlier this year and am so very happy with it. I was lucky enough to go to a digi convention this past March in Vegas and will go again this coming March. Since I also work a full time 40 hour a week job, I cherish spending time with my two kiddos and only spend time on my digi after they go to bed, which means very late nights for me and hardly any sleep. I am have been so fortunate to have made some truly remarkable and lasting friendships with some of the girls I have met online through this wonderful hobby!”

Here is a little more about Jen:

I’m a 38yo stay at home mom, married to the most awesome man on the planet 😉 We are an army family… DH has been career all the way. Which really doesn’t bother me, having grown up a Navy brat. Between the two of us, we have 7 children… ages 19, 17, 16, 13, 12, 11 & 8… plus a cat and a dog. I’ve been digi-scrapping for about 3 1/2 years now, designing for a little over 2 of those years. I love the creative process and have recently switched gears in my designing to include more doodlage and less purchased CU. There are CU designers out there that are just too good to pass up though 😉 Aside from digital scrapbooking & designing, I love making blinkies & banners, I dabble in web design, and I am hooked on Mario games for our Wii. Hi there! Are you having a good week? I hope so. I’m in recovery mode from my mini-vacation… trying to relax a little and get caught up at the same time. Maybe not the best combination. 🙂
